Any of Dan Brown's most famous books. That include The DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons, Deception Point, and Digital Fortress. All are exciting and make you think. Any of the Stephanie Plus series by Janet Evanovich. Three are 13 of those. Sue Grafton's letter series with Kinsey Millhone as a private eye.
Seems strange, but A Wrinkle in Time. I love it, even though it is a kids book.
