Are car companies contributing to cigarette smoking...?!
Question: I don't know about your vehicle, but the lighter in my car has a cigarette on it. Don't you think this encourages, or at least enables smokers? And, do you think they should stop putting lighters in cars, because of the whole cancer thing, and because smokers have their own lighters/matches?

I have a new car too, there was a "smoker's package" available for an extra cost which provided for an ashtray and lighter, but it dosen't come standard anymore I don't think. There's a change tray in place of where an ashtray would be now, as well as a covered lighter thingee that's used for electronics, but no actual lighter with it.
Car companies don't care this kinda stuff if they're making quick money...
Sommebody should sue them!
I have an 06 and no ashtray or lighter. I think MOST new cars are not equipped for smoking. I dont even know anyone that has these things in their car. Is your car alittle older? Maybe thats why.
They did stop putting ashtrays and lighters in cars.
I have a 2007 model that doesn't have an ashtray or a lighter but it does have a power outlet for charging things like you would use a cig lighter in a car for.
