I had to make an outfit in junior high for a project in history class. Where I had to dress up as my native background. (Native American- Cherokee) So, I had to sew a vest and pants.
I'm not really much a sewer, never did have the patience, but I did get an A on the project.

I tried to make a shirt when I was 5 and screwed it up... Never sewed any clothes (besides those easy scarves) again.

Yes I have, but do you know how to sew? Not everything turns out great, and material can cost a fortune! Sleep clothes for the kids probably turned out the best. Of course a basic sewing machine does come in handy for hems and other small alterations.
I've modified my own clothing never actually made anything. I think it's a good idea to make your own clothes because you know your own taste better than anyone else. It's great idea to get a sewing machine. In fact it's an idea I've been thinking about also.

When I was first married, the first time, I used to sew for myself a lot. I made blouses, skirts, dresses...everything.
I sewed off and on for years.
It was a good past time and then you had some original clothing, too!
yeah i like to make my own clothes, but i don't have time anymore :[....once i made my very own black parade jacket...a week later someone gave me the actual one...lol
a have made an apron (for Home Ec. class), and I have made 2 pairs of shorts.
