Try engaging him in going outdoors on trips and such. If that doesn't work, then just tell him that he needs to spend more time with you. Good luck. When you find a man that is into his work a lot, that can be a very hard thing to deter him away from. I know. I had one the same as you, and he was VERY hard to let know that I wanted him to stop and take a break from work. He didn't know the word break from a hole in his head. I had to show him. Maybe you can try that.

I wouldn't complain. As long as I have the weekends with him, I'm fine. I want my man to work. I know when he's working the bills get paid, and he's saving for our future. Not to mention having some extra spending money for us.
You have to look at the up sides to it as well!

Help him spend money on things he enjoys. Suggest things to get out & do when you know he'll have fun. Basically, fun things + you = quality downtime.
He sounds like he'll always work hard for his and your future. Show him the rest of what the time in between is about!

Just make sure that you help him to relax when he's back, and make sure you do something special on his days off, so he can see that there is more to life than work!
I think the age difference definitely plays a part in your predicament... does he have a house and/or car loan that he needs to pay off? Does he take you to nice places on his day's off?
If you work too much you have lots of money and no time to enjoy it... and if you don't work you've got all of the time in the world but not enough money. It sucks.
If you don't care about the money thing then maybe just sit him down and have a chat... tell him that you need to see him more often because him being at work so much is getting in the way of your relationship.
My partner is really into his job, but it's because he enjoys what he's doing so it's half like a hobby as well so I don't mind so much when he works heaps of over-time.
It's hopefully going towards furthering his career in the company as well.
So maybe look at it through his eyes...
