Calling the probation officer when my son was using drugs again. I had to stop him before he killed or was killed, and since I had lost the battle of parenting, I had to use the law. The probation officer did nothing, so I then had to take the next step and put my son in a rehab hospital. It took a few years before he matured and stopped using, but my emotional pain hurts yet, because his wrong choices also affected my life tremendously.
I love him dearly, and did throughout the chaos. He just couldn't see it, and that is difficult for any parent to understand and deal with. Tough love hurts the parent as much as the child.
