Depends entirely on the answer the person gave.
Thumb up. The only time I ever thumb down is when a person gives a really rude answer for no apparent reason.

Thumbs up. I never ever give thumbs down unless the answer is very rude.
Thumb up, it's very rare that I'll thumb down, it's usually only the case when say the asker is a female, and someone randomly insults her 'moral integrity' thats sort of thing.

If it's a question that's a big controversy, i'll put in my answer and then skim the other answers and give them a thumbs up if it's similar to my answer.
