Do their parents realize the risk?

YES. i hate them. soooo much. i think they are called wheelies.

yes, but they cant catch up with them

who cares? there life they'll learn

I've been seeing more stores post signs asking them not to be worn in the store. Thank goodness!

Yeah it is pretty risky, I always wonder when they are going to fall down.

I hate those things.

There are tons of kids who have gotten seriously hurt because of those things.

I'm always scared they are going to run me over when they come towards me with those things.

No, I'm more nervous when they are running and chasing each other beside me.

idk but i tink that it is a risk

yh
u cant walk tidy with them either
heelys

ya it's annoying. it can get really dangerous too. i don't think their parents realize the risk of it all

they freak me out... gliding children?! They are banded in shops around here, theres a big sign on the door, and dam right!

I don't think it's annoying. What's so annoying about that?

in my day we had to pretend we had wheels on our shoes

i always think...wow i wish i had some of those. but i'd probly fall. kids however have better balance since their center of gravity is much lower.

everytime i see a kid with these on, i laugh at them and then attempt to trip them. It usually makes my day.

I hate them. Shoes are for walking. Skates are for skating. Outside.

finally someone who knows what im talking about they need to come with insurance, i almost got ran over by 3 kids roller derbing by me in the walmart and theparents were behind them. then at the dmv same thing. there dangerous and shld not be allowed in stores! what the heck walmart is not the right place to roller derby!

those things are comfy and fun!
theres a risk in everything you do.
theres a risk in rollerblading
and ice skating
in swimming
and sports.

but that doesnt stop people from doing it!

by the way: those shoes are called wheelies.

i know they are so dangerous...............

I'm just waiting for one of them to wipe out, and believe me, I'll have a hard time not laughing when it happens. Sadly, though, there will be a big lawsuit, should some dumb kid fall and hurt himself.

Usually the kids who have those are wannabes.

oh for crying out loud - we used to jump ramps with our bikes (no helmets or knee pads), and all kinds of crazy stuff. Lighten up - let the kids be kids before they have to grow up and worry about all the crap we adults have to deal with!

uh those are SO anoying.
i tried them once and i almost like broke my head

there much more dagerous stuff in the wolrd than wheelies that kids will have to have to experience in life

let them be! let kids have fun. stop feminizing our boys by taking away the fun

yes the parents realize the risk...now mind your own business....and keep your elbows out so the brats run into them...I find that alot more fun.

They are dangerous and should come with insurance.

yes it does! When I use to work at Wal-Mart the kids would always come thru wearing those things and it would anoy the **** out of me. the could seriously hurt them selfs or someone else and the parents do not care. they do not put them in safety gear to protect them or anything. and that is just sad!

those r sooooooooo dumbass!!! i freakin wanna kill da person dat freakin invented em!!! its like what da hell.....they r DORKY and not even cool!!!

yes it does annoy me especially when my sister does it to me. But what's the risk? i understand the running in to people part but other than that i really don't.
i dont get how someone can get hurt! they bump into you say they're sorry and everyone moves on. i have yet to see that happen to anyone yet.
my parents came up with a rule though she is not allowed to skate inside unless there is no one around even then she isn't allowed to.

she falls down a lot any way

heely's are what they are called

they cost $60!! she earned it though

i dont think theres a problem, its not that annoying, at least there staying out of trouble

I think that if kids are going to have these, they need to be taught the appropriate places and times to use them- my daughter has a pair- she can wear them to the park or to play in our front yard- If I were to catch her wheeling around in the supermarket or places that are not 'play' areas that she could be causing a distraction or being incosiderate to others I would take them away and toss them in a heartbeat and she knows I am not kidding.

Of course, this leads me to think about when I was 20, I worked in a very large supermarket where we were required to wear skates, LOL - the store was huge so instead of having us walk from the back to the front of the store to do a price check or get a product for a customer- we skated- it was much faster. I never had a collision with a customer but there were certainly a couple of near misses, LOL. We were taught however to be aware of what was going on around us- 12 yos, however, tend to be a little more self absorbed and ae not always on the lookout when they are skating around and showing off their "wheelies"

I am not so worried about the parents realizing the risk as far as accidents go- kids can fall of thier bikes, have skateboard accidents, etc- everything they do can be a risk and we should not keep them from doing them- just teach them to do it safely- things happen though- my concern is parents are not teaching their kids common courtesy- it is rude and inconsiderate to be skating or skateboarding through a mall (and yes, I have seen that) It is rude and incosiderate to just do your own thing and not take note of what is going on around you and who you are subjecting to having to put up with oyu doing your thing- this goes for those wheelies in the supermarket or mall, the music blared so loud that hte whole neighborhood can hear it whether they want to or not, smoking in public places where people who choose not to are forced to breath it whether they want to or not, and the list oges on.
Parents should teach their kids common courtesy and unfortunately I see less and less of that every day
