When people give Christmas the name XMas, does that mean they do not believe in !

Question: Im a curious.

Answers: Im a curious.

it's simply an abbreviation.

x = criss cross = close to christ, it's just shorthand

If you belong to one of those ultra-conservative churches which concentrate on everything but actual problems, yes. In reality, no - it's just an abbreviation.

I think at first it was just a way to shorten the word (to take up less space on a sign), and the "X" was supposed to represent Christ's cross (I know we're mixing up our feast days here, but I didn't start it)....but now people who do not want to recognize the religious side of Christmas use that form, too.

But what do I know....I took the Steelers giving 9 1/2 points against the Jets last week.

x is just a replacement for the sound of christ. sometimes there isn't enough room on cards or labels to write christmas.

No, they use the X to represent the cross. Or some are just lazy...

its from the Greek, and its very christian,i read it today in the holiday category,it was really interesting to read about..cheers

I, My Most Royal Frumpiness, know that the "X" in "Xmas" isn't an "X" at all, but it is the Greek lette "Chi" (pronounced "ky"), which is a symbol for Christ (it symbolizes the cross). Ergo, "Xmas" is Christmas, abbreviated.

The use of "Xmas" is done by the secular world to get rid of Jesus Christ and so try to alleviate their personal sin by denying it. Why not just use Cmas or just Christmas. The secular market wants to "x" out Jesus yet profanely twist the true messege of Christmas to MERELY be a season to rake in money, profit, and for only monetary gain. Jesus can to save FALLEN mankind from sin and provide an eternal way escape from hell to be with Him in heaven. JESUS is the reason for the season... NOT to make it a good "Black Friday" and amass greedy wealth for mystery Babylon!

i don't think so.
