Question: If so, is it because you feel trolls can easily access your Q&A and generate bogus violations? It sure seems to me Yahoo doen't really investigate a report and simply issues a violation carte blanche.

that is the reason mine is set to private. but on my last account it was a contact that was going through my old questions and reporting them. now i am very picky who i add.
and you're right, yahoo does not investigate a report. i can sort of understand because they probably get thousands of appeals, but they need to do something before deleting someone's whole account.
