Well when something is happening to a friend then i try the cup half full advice. But when something is happening to me i go straight for the cup half empty with a huge hole in it and it will be empty any second.
I think everyone should see it as half full regardless of how bad things can get, it will only get better. It's half full to me when I'm up but when I'm down I only want to it up to the top.

This has nothing to do with nature, most people just tends to said it one way, but there is actual answer to this. Okay, there is a logic to this if you just think about it.
The cup is half filled: when the water is just been put in there and no water has come out of it. Therefore you can think it as cup is still in the process of "fill[ing]" up.
The cup is half empty: when some of the water has just been taking out. You can think of it as cup that is in the process of being empty out.
