so when the asker chooses the best answer they usually pick the one with the most thumbs up, so if someone answers the question they will give everyone else thumbs down. i have no idea why it happened in your example as there was no real right answer.
they have nothing else better to do

They same reason they hit the report it button. They think there the Q&A police. I just wish we could find out who thses people are so we could do the same to them
