Do you think I'm justified in feeling upset?!
Question: It was my sons 4th birthday on Monday and NOT ONE of my husbands family (he is the youngest of 8 children) called to wish him a happy birthday. My mother in law gives all her grandchildren $50 for their birthday and hasn't sent anything to my son. We moved to a different state 5 months ago, and although they were annoyed we were leaving, said they are happy for us now.
I'm so upset, not so much because of the money but because we had to call THEM the next day and ask them to wish him a happy birthday!

it was my 30th two weeks ago.
not only did none of my family turn up to my birthday party - even though invited, but none of them bothered to call either.
my father doesn't even know the date of my birthday.
the old 'it's the thought that counts' comes into it here. forget the money aspect, that matters for nothing. the fact that they've 'forgotten' speaks volumes.
geesh...8 kids? Yes... I'd be mad too. Give it a few days before you start making the pissy phonecalls.

Did they realize it was your sons birthday???
in future you should let them know before hand so they know i think,
because i would tread gently with hubbys family or hubby may get defensive & stick up for them & you dont need any sort of conflict there
even if its not there now it may occur in the future

Even if they couldnt send a present or money they could AT LEAST make a phone call. As for your hubby's 8 siblings..well some times its easy to lose track of time and forget a birthday but still its not excuse in my books!
You are NOT overracting at all hon, as long as your son had a great birthday then think of that and dont let it upset you too much.
