I started locking my doors at night about two weeks ago. My neighbor got drunk one night and when he came home he thought our house was his house. So, he let himself in because the door wasn't locked. Lets just say my husband and I were not too happy when the neighbor got in bed with us. So, now the door is locked even though we live in a very quiet and safe place.

Yes, I do.

no some one else does... they let me out in the morning

Yes I do.

no...i'm always just fall asleep and forget to

I do. I also have the front door locked when I am home.

i have always lived in the city and lock everything! i even lock my car doors when i run into the gas station or another quick trip. my feeling is, i can never be too safe

I have my door locked 24/7

Yes I do, I live in the city.

Yep. My neighborhood is actually really safe and everybody knows everyone else, but I'm just terrified of kidnappers and murderers and stuff, so I always double check to make sure all the doors are locked even when I know my parents locked them.

yes always

Most of the time I don't,

yup but its not like it does anygood. my back window doesnt lock and like everyone we know, knows that it doesnt!

My doors, my car, my desk... everything...

yes.
google "richard chase" the serial killer, he'd look for anyone with an unlocked door and walk in and murder them because
"FBI agent Robert Ressler once asked Chase how he selected his victims. He said that he went down the streets testing doors to find one that was unlocked. “If the door was locked,” he said, “That means you’re not welcome.” (source)" . If you read the whole story it's probably enough to scare people into locking their doors...creepy guy.

Robbers and kidnappers don't want to make a big scene, so obviously an open door is easier than smashing a window or something that might make people nearby notice something out of the ordinary.

It's just locking a door, can't do any harm unless you lock yourself out ha-ha. Might as well be careful.
