Why do people pay for a simple "Cupcake" with a credit card ??!

Question: Holding up the whole line in the supermarket ???

Answers: Holding up the whole line in the supermarket ???

Many people use their credit cards for all their purchases and pay the bill in full every month. Lots of credit card companies send year end summaries to the customers which accountants can use for information when filing taxes. Many people use their credit card to gain points in the many points oriented programs available. You can accumulate points for frequent flier miles quicker if you make all your purchases with one credit card and you can fly to Europe faster than if you used a credit card for only big purchases once in a while

maybre they are using their debit card not credit card

They don't carry cash

lots of people dont even carry cash any more just their bank or credit card.

I suspect they are using a "debit" card so they can get cash back.

Because they have no cash on them...and they earn points for every dollar spent...

b/c I'm broke and the kids are hungry

and i need to check to make sure the card hasn't been declined before i spend a ton of money

they may not have cash

to keep up with the Joneses.

Because people have gotten so accustomed to paying everything with plastic, it has become almost a reflex action.

Sounds like my dad.
He bought me an eraser with a credit card.
He never has any money on him.

No idea, that is so stupid. Who does that? Seriously.

Im sorry my paycheck is direct deposit! I have not seen cash since the 80's! Be nice or next time I will write a check! (lol)

Likely to get airline miles and avoid having to pay rediculously high (as a percentage), ATM fees to use an ATM that isn't from ones' own bank (can run as high as $2.00 per transaction which is 10% of a $20 withdrawl, almost as much as the cupcake itself costs!).

because they don't carry cash. it doesn't take much longer to pay by credit card than cash, and it's faster than by check. also, you don't have to worry about dumb cashiers shorting you.

Yes annoying. People should carry ar least a few coins

lol...I'm guilty, I'm sorry. Well it's actually my debit card and it seems to go faster than cash to me. I just never have cash on me, but I know, I sometimes buy 10 things when I only wanted one just so people don't look at me weird...ultimately takes even more time to ring it all up:o)

I very seldom carry cash anymore, but I don't think I'd put a cupcake on my credit card unless I was starving. Have a little patience, what's your hurry anyway? Life's too short to rush thru!

I hate carrying cash and change. honestly I think its more annoying for someone to count out change which won't be exact and then having to wait for the cashier to recount and then give back the difference. Card is so much easier.

If anyone pays for just one cupcake with a credit card, they're bizarre indeed.
Another reason is that they have money to burn to buy alot of credit cards with so they waste their time paying for just cupcakes on them.

it looks stylish.

Sometimes it 's because the card is stolen. If a low value transaction goes through the thief knows the card is still good and can be used for more ambitious theft. If there's a problem with the card they pay for the goods in cash and make a quiet exit. A quart of milk is often used instead of a cupcake as everybody buys milk.

Here's an interesting story.

I was waiting in the "15 items or less" line in the supermarket. There were three checkouts.
Checkout number 1 (or CO1) as I will call it was non-operational as there was a bimbo behind the counter tinkering with something.
CO2 was occupied by a man that had a billion reduced items that the lady had to enter the codes for MANUALLY and CO3 didn't have a working cash draw, so three people walked past me and got served because I didn't have my card.

The moral of this story? MAYBE THEY'RE ONTO SOMETHING!!!!!

:) I hope this amused someone.

It doesn't hold up the line. It just takes the swap of the card. No real problem. There's no paper work involved. Let people live their life the way that makes them happy. It's not hurting anyone.

I use to complain about the same thing - until I caught on. If you notice ATM fees are outrageous. You might pay $3 to take money out of another banks ATM & then your bank charges you a fee as well.

Heck, if I'm in need of cash & I don't have access to my homebranches ATM, I go to a walgreens & buy a newspaper, pack of gum, etc.. Then I get $50 cash back.. Oh yeah, no ATM fees for me BABY!!! :D
