I am a military guy, simple and humble. I have noticed a public relations problem as it pertains to torture. Lawyers cannot difine it, or should I say, define it properly. Torture is illegal, immoral and cannot be permitted by a civilized nation. Certain practices may or may not be considered torture. I spent a lot of time with the military, and sometimes field expiendient methods are used to extact information for immediate use. I have also read stories of civilian police departments using interrogation tactics that result in bogus confessions. Rather than give Rep Rohrabacher a thumbs up or down, we should look at interrogation tactics throughout our entire judicial system. It is easier for me to forgive uneducated soldiers for violations of law while under fire, than to forgive seasoned professional lawmakers that make careful decisions in a safe environment, without immediate risk of life. Start the dialog, find out what is acceptable and what is not. If in doubt, ask Sen. McCain.
