From your avatar, I'd say that you ARE a proud mother. BUT I say NO, you can NOT tell a book by its cover. This being as you DON'T know someone just because you see a picture. And you can NOT pass judgement on someone jusat because he/she dresses in leather as a biker. OR because someone dresses in a business suit. BOTH could be deadly. Ther business suit person could actually be like mafia. And the leather dressed person could be a person who is into S & M and this doesn't make him/her a bad person in the least. BUT you open your arms to the business suit and could end up dead. So NO, can't judge a book by its cover.

If a book says 'Mathematics' on the cover, I'd bet it doesn't contain historical information...
To a certain extent-- yes. The mind's too complicated though to know /everything/ about a person from a picture. You need interaction and time, and sometimes even that isn't enough.
