No its not your fault...it is their fault for taking that kind of advice....that would ruin something...

well sort of both. But if I was advising someone, I can be sure they haven't told me the whole story, just their point of view on it. Therefore they have to take responsibility for not giving out all the facts before seeking advice.
But on the whole, I don't really offer advice that has the possibility of failure.

If they took your advise then it their fault because they are responsible for their own actions. They did not have to take your advise but they choose to do so.
free advice is worth what you pay for it..you listen to someone else..you made that choice so its your fault
