um, I'd say i have a contagious fungi on my foot that could be caught by just stepping where I'd stepped.
that should let them keep my shoes on, and hide the awful holes hehe.

lol this happen to me before and i just held my toes really tight b/c the hole was in the front under the big toe kind of and i just held my toes really really tight and together...lol
It would depend on where I was and how the temperature was. If I was at a nice place then I would take my socks off. But if its just some friends house or somthing casual like that, then I'd deal with it. Im pretty sure everyone has had atleast one hole in their sock before. No big deal. Plus, if anyone asked why I had a hole in my sock, Id just say that I was in a hurry and when I was running out the door with my shoes in my hands, I snagged it on a stick or somthing.
Nothing...who cares? If I'm still wearing them, then the holes are that big. So it's not a big deal.
I'd try to make sure I knew I was going someplace that I might have to take my shoes off before going out in holy socks. But if it was a surprise, and I HAD to take them off for politeness reasons, I'd make a joke out of it.
The best thing to do in this situation is to draw attention to the holes and crack a joke like, "Tomorrow is laundry day, and this is all I could find ha ha. Excuse the holes in my socks. If I had known I would be taking shoes off, I would have come prepared. The horror! The horror!"
I guess that's the only thing you can do. Because if you just ignore it, then people will notice and think stuff in their head.
If you make a joke, and draw attention to something that they will inevitably see, it will make it funnier and more light-hearted.

If it was close to the toes, I'd try to stick the hole area in between my toes, lol. If its anywhere else, oh well!

You know, I hate to sound like that but that would never happen to me. I rarely wear socks for one and two, well, there is no two. But there is a chance that there would be a run in my pantyhose.
