POLL: What do you think of the phrase "we're pregnant"?!

Question: My opinion: It's new age BS run amuck. The only way a couple can be pregnant is if they're each female and each carrying a child.

Besides, watch how quickly "we're pregnant" becomes "*I'M* in labor, YOU did this to me, and *I* want an epidural" when it's time for Baby's appearance.

My wife and I (aka "we") are parents of a 12-year-old son. We were never pregnant though, that was all her.

I think it's pretentious BS. WE aren't pregnant---the woman is. I think it's something cutsie first time parents do to make themselves feel more together. I find it puke inducing.

I agree, mostly.

I concur, it's rhetorical nonsense.

i am 8 months, and my hub never says "we're pregnant" because it is stupid, and i would call him on it. I am the one going through the morning sickness and joints constantly aching, and stretch marks...not him. i agree with the statement "we" are having a baby though.

i disagree, you are right you are not the one in pain but,! but it is also your responsibility

I hear ya!! I have to admit (since You brought it up!) it sounds kinda sissy to me for the man to imply he is a joint sustainer of new life after conception has taken place and he is out of the picture, except for money and worry. It's a little gushy for me, but people can say what they want. Just get past it.

I would ask myself was it really worth that wild night with those 2 Swedish twins.

The phrase "we're pregnant" comes from the fact that when a man and women become husband and wife, they become one. Just like it says in traditional ceremonies.

I never used that phrase, but I know people who have. I believe it is something men like to use because they want to be a part of the pregnancy. It is their way of sympathizing with what their wife is going through. It's nice, but men will never be able to sympathize fully, because they can;t give birth.

ROFLMAO....

Yep, it's Political Correctness run amock! Reminds me of the first time I caught my girlfriend cheating on me and she said she "kind of" made love to the other guy??? Kind of? Either you did, or you didn't...LOL...what kind of response is that???

People are straight up nuts. They can rationalise ANYTHING, and will go to extreme NOT to hurt one's "feelings"....LOL what a generation of whimps we're raising. Oh well, it's the PC thing to do.

Sure...I agree, "We're pregnant." is rediculous. LOL...what happens when she doesn't want the baby & he does? You think HE gets ANY say??? LOL...right, "we're pregnant"....sure you are. It's her body, her choice...only SHE is the one that's pregnant.

I'm confident I've just p*ssed off a few libs w/ this answer so please allow me to policitally correctly tell you to F-off before hand...regards!

Oh LORD! I agree. There's no "we" to it!
I would sit and cry and beg for my husband to rub my feet when I was 8 1/2 pregnant..he'd only rub mine if I rubbed his.
Was he carrying around 60 extra pounds? Did HE have hemmoroids? No.

That's why we are going to only have a single.

I agree. Women get pregnant, they go through morning sickness, they feel the labor pains. Men supply the emotional help. They may feel involved enough to say that they are pregnant, but get real. She's pregnant. "We're having a baby." That I like.
