In general, I believe more women enjoy shopping than do men. They find it pleasurable just to look around, even if they don't buy anything.
Not all men hate shopping though. Ask them to go look at new motorcycles with you...new cars...power tools...fishing rods...guns...etc. It depends what interests them.
I dislike shopping for pants because there is so much trying on and taking off of trousers until you find some that fit. Shirts you don't always have to do that with. Jackets and coats are quick on / quick off. But anything where I have to keep putting my shoes back on over and over again is a bit tiresome.
I also don't like to be pressured by sales people and I sometimes feel guilty if I've tried on a bunch of stuff but don't end up buying anything. Having to work for a living myself, I feel a little pity for the poor sales person who is working on commission. I'm not sure that women necessarily feel that same level of guilt or pity, though (since they all just sit around on their tushies eating bon bons and watching soap operas all day) -- JUST KIDDING! (I'm yankin' wif 'ya people...don't take my last comment seriously, please. Just having some fun with answers.)

Yes, it is true that is what most people think. It isn't that common for most men to love shopping (people still think that is kind of odd for a man to like shopping) or talk for hours on the phone with their friends.
Depends on what I am shopping for. If I am at Lowes or Home Depot, my gf has to drag me out of there, even though she enjoys going there, she is usually the one that wants to go. Now, clothes shopping, I want to go a minute after I enter the store. Where, she can drag my butt around for hours.
That maybe what people think, but I rate shopping down there with doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom.

Even most people think that isn't true all the time. Me and my hubbie like to go shopping together.
I believe that's true. I like shopping when nobody's in the store. But I still am not going to fart around all day doing it unless I have a specific mission that's going to take that long. If the store is crowded and the registers backed up, I will abort mission even if I have the needed stuff in hand.

However, I certainly DO think that women love to shop and chat.
Me - I loath shopping and despise telephone calls.
Just let me do one of the following and I'll be happy:
> bike-ride with my wife and son
> long car rides with the stereo cranked up
> jamming on the guitar with friends
> enjoying good conversation over good food and wine
> working in the garden
