When someone mispronounces your name do you correct them or just forget it?!

Question: I have strangers (like the bank or any strangers in a store that see my credit card and say thank you and ALWAYS say my name wrong even when they kind of know who I am) and I'm starting to correct them now. I'm also talking about people you see not on a regular basis and they know your name but always get it wrong.

I always get called Donna instead of Dawn and usually don't bother to correct them unless I know I'll have to deal with them a lot in the future.

People don't even attempt to say my last name, they just look at me and either ask "how do you say that?" or they skip over it... and I end up telling them!

well my name is pretty easy to to say so if they do say it wrong i'd be pretty ticked, its Amanda lol

i correct them. but usually the people who are with me do it first.

it depends who it is, but usually, no I don't...unless I'm going to be seeing that person a lot...like a co-worker, I might correct

if they're people i don't see on a regular basis, i usually let it pass.

I had to correct them this morning at the polling station... otherwise I wouldn't have been able to vote!

My last name is so simple that mispronunciations get on my nerves after 27 years.

That doesnt happen to me. Jessica is a fairly easy name.

Happens to me all the time I just move along, unless they ask me the correct pronunciation.

I correct them. It is a common spanish name- Juanita (Wanita), if they didnt know how to pronounce it, they do now.

i just ignore them ...especially when i know i don't really have to see them again.

I always correct them

Only if I think I will be seeing them again.

Forget it! Old ladies think I'm saying Stew, instead of steve. Then they're calling me Stewie. The last name really forget it. I just say Smith to begin with.

I've always corrected them...and never in a mean or nasty tone.
I think people appreciate learning how to pronounce someones name...and I'd rather someone correct me than sound foolish when I then introduce them to someone else using the same incorrect name.
