What is your view on capital punishment?!

Question: Is it better to have a murderer or someone that did a really awful crime get executed or suffer in jail for life? I don't have a view yet.

My dad's in prison for a crime he did not commit,
so you get the point,
I don't agree with it unless their is PROOF

full fakes doing

live by the sword, die by it. karma.

murder

eye for an eye makes the whole world blind

If done right, capital punishment costs society less.

It also allows the families of both perp and victim move on.

there,s questions over the last 2men and female hung in the UK so no

hannrattie and let him have it
A5 DNA ?
Ruth Elliss stabbed her boyfriend 50 times times mad is a better word

An absolute No. Where will it end? Who does it? How can we condemn violence while using it as a national strategy?

i think capital punishment is ok as long as nobody gets killed

I'm not sure that we as mere mortals have the ability to say if another human's life should be ended.

Think of it this way, shoudl Hitler be die for what he did to millions of people, or should he just rot in jail. Depends I guess. I think that people who do really horrendus crimes liek the ChessBoard Murderer deserves to be sentences to death. Jail, no because nobody wants anyone to suffer, just to lesser the world of one more evil.

execute

yes all fore it

unfortunately the system often puts the wrong person in the chair

so for that very reason it needs to be used sparingly and only in the most heinious of crimes

the Supreme Court has suspended alll executions in the US untill it reviews it next spring

I have gone back and forth over this and I think I finally decided that the murderer should be made to sit in jail forever instead of executing them. I think losing their freedom for the rest of their life is much more harsh than executing them.

I prefer Lower Case punishment--LIFE without hope of parole for the worst criminals over DEATH (CAPITAL Punishment) There are just too many times they find out they have the wrong guy. LIFE sentence can be undone--DEATH PENALTY cannot.

Some people will argue that keeping them in jail is worse because they lose their freedom and death is too easy of a way out but I don't like the idea of having to pay to clothe and feed them either so the death penalty is fine by me as long as they are gulity beyond a doubt.

well if you think of every one on death row, now put them into prisons they're going to add the prison population up and up, which wont help with prison numbers already over crowding.

pro

who knows with all the murders that they later find innocent. If they were for sure guilty go for it.

its wrong....killers should rot in jail anyways

i'm definitely against capital punishment.
I think if they live their whole life in prision that is way more punishment and it gives them a chance to reconcile if at all possible.

If you just kill them then you are not letting them really pay for their crime and you are no better off then them.

After all shouldn't we let god decide what to do about those who took another life ?

We need more of it .
The time between sentencing and execution should always be 90 days or less.

It cost the honest citizens big bucks to keep a inmate in max security.

Anyone know the avg figure ??

if were going to have it, then we need to use it

For the really horrible crimes, I think justice points to the ultimate penalty which is death. What I would do is have all death penalty cases carefully reviewed to make sure there is almost no doubt that the person being executed is guilty of the crime.

I think capital punishment is the easy way out for almost everyone involved. I believe in redemption, now for those heinous crimes they have to find and live with their new found compassion in jail but they should have to live their life seeking forgiveness and redemption. I tie my answers into my belief in the soul and even possibly reincarnation and that to kill someone is to cut their life process short.

I am totally gray on this issue. I think if it is proven that they have no guilt or remorse or no conscience of whatever they did, then they should be put to death. If they show conscience then they should have to suffer life in jail. I am sure people will argue with that. It is just my opinion and that doesn't mean much in this world.

An eye for an eye. If they murdered someone, give 'em capital punishment. Besides, jails are overcrowded as it is.

capital punishment is a great deterrent if it's used more often. sure it need some checks in place, but when that's in place then sure.

I relish the idea of him suffering...however, I am a firm believer in death as the ultimate punishment..."An eye for an eye"!!!

It doesn't deter anyone from doing anything, but it's sure nice to know that the bastard's get what's coming to them! Of course, this is only one opinion! We could take this further, but I don't want to upset those bleeding heart liberals, or the ALCU or anyone who might believe in the old book that says thou shalt not kill or murder or whatever version some might read! But it's still nice to know that if you do something really bad, they get you for it!
