How to make Cinnamon Ornament cut outs?!

Question: jeez....this recipe I used didn't work and I really was hoping to make some for our tree this year and also gifts for the teachers. I did a test run this morning and need some advice or a BETTER recipe! Thank you in advance:)

1 cup cinnamon

2/3 cup of applesauce

1 Tablespoon of glue

wooden spoon end (to make a hole for the ornament's ribbon or string)

the recipe says to mix all of the ingredients together , roll dough out into 1/4 inch and use cookie cutters or free form.

if it is too moist, sprinkle more cinnamon...if too dry, add more applesauce.

let dry on cookie sheet for 24 to 48 hours or in Oven at 250 until hard.

Try this one it has nutmeg in it. The recipe I have wasn't too good either. But this site has lots of the recipes! But this is just 1 of many!

dunno

Here you go :
1 cup ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground cloves
3/4 cup applesauce
1 teaspoon fragrance oil (apple, cinnamon, range or your own choice)
2 tablespoons white craft glue

Mix in a bowl the cinnamon and cloves.
Add to this applesauce, oil and the glue.
Knead this mixture for a few minutes til you have a firm but pliable dough.
Too wet, add more cinnamon--too dry, add more applesauce.
Roll the dough out on a surface dusted with cinnamon, 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out shapes with cookie cutters [x-mas tree, hearts, stars, etc].
Make a hole in the top with a wooden or metal skewer, this must be large enough for ribbon if you want them for hanging.
Air dry them for several days on paper kitchen towel, turning them over several times so they don't warp.
Impatient?.
A low oven [200°F] for a few hours will also do the trick, don't forget to turn them over.
When dry, decorate with a ribbon.
You can also use shallow plaster, cookie and candy molds, press the dough in the cavity, smooth with a rolling pin, ease out of the mold and cut away the excess dough.
Or roll out the dough, place a piece of decorative lace on the top, using the rolling pin go over it until it has left an impression of the lace, then cut out using the cookie cutters.
You also get a nice result using cookie stamps.

Try using a sugar cookie recipe. Except use cinnamon. I take it, you want the scent of Cinnamon??? Then use you cookie cut outs and throw them back in cinnamon then in the oven and you want them thin so they are hard (dont forget to make a hole for your ribbon or string) Then let them cool and frost with Vanilla icing/ buttercream (I would try Royal Icing cause it hardens quicker and harder) then sprinkle more cinnamon and then let it all dry up! Good Luck
