I live in Illinois and while joking about being a redneck is okay, I wouldn't be serious about it. I am of Italian descent and there are many jokes about us that I find hilarious! But someone that seriously has a problem with my ancestry would make me uncomfortable, as it should anyone that could fit the bill of redneck.
