Should I be nervous?!

Question: I asked to speak to our HR manager like 3 weeks ago over a harassment issue I was having with another employee, well he must've felt it was unimportant because he never got around to talking to me about it. Well I have been off of work for a few day's because I swapped day's with someone else. Well when I came back to work last night I had a note saying he wanted me to stay over on Monday because he needed to talk to me. So I called him and left a message, well I called again today to see if he got the message because I can't stay over and he said I'll just talk to you tuesday. Do you think he's gonna yell at me for something because he didn't say nothing on the phone. I'm thinking yes because otherwise he would've said something, and I doubt it's about the other issue because that was 3 weeks ago.

I'd go in on Tuesday prepared to discuss the incident from 3 weeks ago. Although it seems that a significant amount of time has passed - I wouldn't take anything for granted.

I recently experienced a similar situation. I reported an incident to HR - and they decided to FINALLY 'investigate' it nearly 2 weeks later. And rather than being a neutral, unbiased observer - the HR manager presented a defense for the person I filed my complaint against. It was a huge mess. So just from my own experience, I'm suggesting you go in with both eyes open.

Hope for the best - but be prepared for the worst.

*HUG* good luck :D Report It

  • Don't worry a thing

    no stop being paranoid

    hmm..maybe

stay calm and have happy thoughts.
he has NO right to yell at you regardless if you are an emplyee or not. i wouldn't wanna be harrassed, good luck with the meeting

yes be very scared muah haha! ha!...thnx for tha 2 points:)

no, I dont think he will yell at you unless you've done anything wrong lately.

maybe you should be a little nervous. but when you go in there...show all confidence. dont show them how scared you are. he probably wont yell at you or he would have found a way to do it already.

Try not to be, but make sure you discuss that harassment issue.
If its serious, you could sue the company

i think he will talk to you not yell at you. adults dont yell at workers unless there real ****s. dont worry

    Dont be Nervous

I dont think there any way to tell..besides..YOU got harrased..YOU should stick up for yourself!

okay first of all. if the HR guy didnt contact you sooner or whatever hes not really good at what he does I geuss

wow. tough. dont be nervous, what should happen will. and if he yells-your grown. your not a baby. dont get scared! youre equal!! oh-you can compliment him a lot, in a way its not obvious. be nicer!

hope you dont get creamed! Lol jk...good luck making him unmad!

I think your just being paranoid, just wait, I'm sure it's nothing big, maybe he just wants to see how you are doing and see what's going on

Huh? Nervous about what. An HR person is simply an arbitrator. Nothing more or less. Just because you two have been missing each other doesn't mean anything. For harassment situations you should consider taping your conversation with the HR manager, with or without their knowledge.

avoid him until hr fixes the issue

I'd quit that job if I were you and report it to EEOC. Sexual harrassment is a very serious issue.

I volunteer at a hospital and just went through harrasment training. Your HR person should have dealt with the situation 3 weeks ago, or else it is considered Neglect. If he hasnt spoken to you, you can file a complaint with the business. He shouldnt yell at you either because you are trying to feel safe while at work and do your job. If he does yell, file a complaint and neglection against your HR person!

    i wouldn't worry about it

I dont think You should be very nervous. Its good to be a little nevous it will keep you careful, but he probaly just wants to talk to you.

if you didn't do anything wrong i don't see how you should worry.....=o)

nothing to worry.probably been busy, you get your say when the time comes

Don't be nervous. Harassment on the job in any form is illegal. He probably wants to ask more questions before he makes a decision.

My mom told me this saying that really helped me out when I was worried about something.

"The fears you endured about evils that never arrived" In other words, you're worrying about something that doesn't warrant it.

He may have just been too busy to get back intouch with you and would like to bring you up to date on this action taken if any.

Well, it has to be over something, if the harrassment issue was 3 weeks ago. If it is about the harassment issue, most likely you won't get punished. Time to pay for the crime is long gone. If he does punish you for the harrassment issue, he's ghey, or old...

well, it's somewhat hard to understand. so, you filed a complaint with your boss who happens to be the HR manager, right? what exactly did this employee do? is she calling you names? coming onto you? have you said or did anything back to her? do you know if your company is investigating the complaint? i don't think your going to get yelled at. it's not your fault. you had a valid concern and you brought it to the company's attention. the HR department is suppose to be able to handle these types situations. try not to worry about it. they might just want to inform you that they are looking into it.

    You'll be fine.

what can I say that Sally<3Jack didn't? good answer.

Usually when I get worked up like this it turns out to be nothing! Do whatever you can to keep your job and get hired perm. because times are hard and about to get harder and jobs are few.

    God Bless!
