All the good musicians are gone. either dead or retired from the profession. No one had any imagination anymore or Billboard is stupid

i noticed that too!
it seems like today's generation has impaired hearing!

cause we gettin people like soulja boy, hurricane chris, n kanye west in the game.

its really makin things wakk.
rip pac n biggie no doubt.

We got old, that's what happened!

I KNOW ITS ALL LIKE HIP-HOP AND RAP CRAP THESE DAYS!!!

i agree its amazing all the artists of today release a album never to be heard again

Watch idiocracy.. It explains alot

i dunno a lot of those artist used to be good but it's like they ran out of sh** to say or something. or were one hit wonders! i use to turn on my radio and find like 2-5 new songs a week that i liked and now i havnt found a good song in like 4 months!

music has changed

who knows maybe in another 30 yrs those people will be saying the samething about their music, and saying that the music of today is crap... its always been that way, out with the old in with the new

i kno! i listen to old 80s music and stuff. now everything is by a remix and is now a rap or somthing

Because kids these days were sucked into thinking these songs were cool, even though they insult women, children, and people not "ghetto"stupid stupid stupid

Has it? i like all sorts of music, from all eras. I don't think its gone downhill, just changed.

LMAO... you're letting your age show on this question. But I fully agree with you. Those were the days!

Hmm, the only thing that i like from there is Timbaland's version of Apologize, that was originally sung by One Republic. Solja Boy has been overplayed and it's making me mad to hear it now. Chris Brown, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Colbie Cailat, Baby Bash, and Rhianna i don't even listen to, and don't plan on. I'd rather have it how it was back then if i had to, but not those groups particulary. Some music today is good, but what i like is music from today that you could tell that i am a person that likes music from 30 years ago lol.

that logic flawed, music today is no better than music 30 years ago. music 30 years ago is better than music from 100 years ago, music from 100 years ago is no better than the music from 500 years ago....

It's not you. Where did talent go? I'm so happy for the CD's I've purchased over the years. I keep waiting for a "new age" singer, there aren't any. The only CD's I've purchased in the past year are Beatles, Wings, even Elvis.

And thirty years ago when Van Morrison, the Stones, the Beatles and Stevie were rocking the charts, I'm sure someone was complaining that music has really gone downhill too.

But just think it how interesting it will be in the old folks home.

I thought it was funny when VH1 or MTV had their annual Pop Trivia Culture Contest and a twenty-something guy was being asked about songs just a few years old. He had no idea what the answers were and apologized, saying something like "I hate to sound like an old foggy but music these days sucks".

Harmony is gone.
Songs with real lyrics are gone.

'Songs' now have swearing, drugs or killing.
'Songs' now have no meaning other than promoting trouble.
'Songs' now are said (not sung) to a beat (not music).

This is our future - - man are we in trouble.

Not only do you have that correctly stated but furthermore

These so called singers are singing remakes of classic hits
and ruining those songs. They are tearing apart rock, southern
rock, classic rock and the blues . What I want to know is who
are the dumb bells keeping any of the lousy singers on the
hit parade. If they don't know any better, the stations should
start playing the old hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's with the
true singer , let them hear real music by true musicians and artists.

The others, I understand, but what's wrong with Alicia Keys? She's the only one in that list who actually has talent.

Aerosmith is still doin itso i gues we can all DREAM ON............lol

Nothing happened to music. The names just changed. The stars of 30 years ago matured and moved on to other things, or are still trying to capitalize on their previous reputations and making fools of themselves by playing the same old stuff, or died.

Everything changes, even music. Resistance to change just makes you unhappy and frustrated. I'm not saying that todays music is better. I would be the last person to say that, as I am an opera and classical music fan. I'm just saying that every generations music has it's good and bad points. Years later, you only remember the good and never think of the bad. In 30 years, there will be stand out artists from today whose music will still be around. But, like in most generations of music, most will be forgotten.

The decrease in the general populations IQ has led to people reverting back to a more primitive state. The beating of a drum with people dancing around a fire is very similar to the sound of a rap songs beat and the various members dancing around like idiots.

Amanda B is right. That movie will explain everything.

nothing happened-lol

as usual it evolved-the beattles were not loved by parents & were thought to be foreign troublemakers, the beach boys were womanizers (2 girls for every boy), the rolling stones and vanmorrison were all stoned and frollicking with groupies, stevie was a charming womanizer....

the current generation can talk about their troubled artist too but music has more to do with the audience than just the artist. radio stations as usual are a bad place to start and the 10 ten has always been a joke-can you say PAYOLA?

Doubt that this will change your mind but i hope it gives you some perspective

yeah, it is pretty much just crap now

Like everything else in the world, it changed. That doesn't mean it is not still good, just different than from what you grew up with. So either find something in the music of this time period you can enjoy, or get yourself an MP3 and download all your old music onto it so you don't have to ever listen to the new. I am 62, and like some of todays music, but not all of it. But I consider that to be my problem. It doesn't mean today's music is bad. I also like some of the music I grew up with, but not all of it. That is also my problem, and it doesn't mean older music is bad. It is just a matter of personal taste.
