How to do household chores. Most of what I do in terms of washing dishes, cleaning, doing laundry, I learned when I was young because my mother and father both worked full-time. I'm glad now every time I visit a friend whose home is completely out of control.

Sorry, I just read the "hated at the time" part. Sorry, I loved learning how to read.
It totally baffles me how many parents these days think it's up to schools to teach their children how to read. It actually gets me angry when I hear that 40% of children here (in the UK) leave primary school unable to read properly.
