Can all bears climb trees?!

Question: My friend says that a bear would be easier to escape than a shark. I say nay, because they can run fast and climb trees. He says big bears cant climb trees.

Can they?

I'll probably lie anyways, so that I dont look wrong, but I'd like to know anyhow.

I'm am experted in all things beary... so just show him this answer and you'll be set.

Big bears cannot climb trees, but because of their large brains and vast knowledge of the forest they can fashion a "rope and pulley" system out of vines and rocks. Plus the birds and chipmunks, normally very passive creatures, are sworn to do the bear's bidding ever since the Great Forest Treaty of '97... there are certain stipulations in which the "Bear Minion Clause" does not apply but I wouldn't take my chances. So unless you want to be pecked and 'munked' out of the tree tops or greet an unwelcome, yet well-harnessed, furry visitor into your personal branch space... I would recommend NOT climbing trees to avoid a bear attack.

No

I don't know, all I know is that if you're being chased by a bear, you only have to outrun or outclimb one friend....

yes they can climb trees and are amazing at it because they are very fast.

i don't know about polar bears.....

its easier to escape from a shark than a bear because bears can run faster than you, swim better and climb higher than u, there is virtually no escape from them. sharks, on the other hand, only 3 species out of the 150 species are known to pose a threat to man, but in shallow water they are no match for us, and then generally attack smaller preys compared to us.

I don't know about BIG bears but some of them can.

But it seems that they can't get down without help.

I do believe "Ompelle" is correcto-mundo...I defer to her very beary expertise...however...

With the exception of Fuzzy Wuzzy...

Climbing trees gives him a rash...

(And sometimes after he's stuffed himself with honey...Mister Pooh Bear has difficulty even walking, let alone climbing up a tree somewhere...but other than that...yes...bears can climb trees...let's just hope in the near future, there will BE bears, and there will BE trees for them to climb...good lord almighty...)

Hmmm, I don't know, I have a "Bear" friend, I'll have to ask him that... lol

The only big bear that i know for a fact that can climb trees is Smokey the Bear....and Big Foot.....but hes not REALLy a bear.

black bears can

i've never seen a gummy bear up in a tree ,
unless someone threw it there, so you are right.

All bears do not climb trees.

Grizzlies and Polar Bears can not climb trees as they are too big, weighing close to a half a ton, they are the largest land carnivores in the world. However, many other beers can and do climb trees like Black bears.

The only bear I know about is the fur bear that lies in front of the cabin fireplace. It's a great get away maybe I should have a party there.

I have it on good authority that certain bears are incapable of climbing trees. Polar bears don't climb trees due to the complete lack of trees on ice flows. Dead bears also don't climb trees nor do bears without paws and bears who have just been shot with tranquilizer darts to get them out of trees are highly unlikely to climb. Ompelle is correct in pointing out the dangers of chipmonks however as pound for pound they are much more dangerous.

Polar bears can't climb trees.
