With an M-16 is it easier to get a lethal shot prone from 500yds or standing at !

Question: You have one shot.

Answers: You have one shot.

Prone is the best position for hitting your target, as long as you know the proper way to wrap the sling around your arm and have breathing control.

Standing (or off hand as it is called) is only good for close ranges.

Back in my day we used Maxim guns to defeat the Central Powers in 1918

you training for the hitman position? yeah same here.

I wood say its about the same difficulty.
but I'm leaning heavy on standing at 250

standing at 250...not very effective at 500yds...

If you don't know the answer... then maybe you shouldn't try firing the M-16

250

The answer is prone at 500 yards. The prone position allows for more stable sighting and postioning of the gun sight. However, due to factors such as wind condtions, the size of the target and the quality of the sighting system as well as the marksman ship of the shooter, 500 yards is a bit optimistic. the colt M16 series assault rilfe uses the 5.56mm NATO round , a low caliber bullet that does does not pack as much punch as its larger caliber brethren. However, a lethal shot at 500 yards is possible but highly improbable. For targets at 500 yards or beyond, the use of a larger caliber sniper rifle is recommended.
