It may have been an acronym: This Ugly Rank Dung.
lol !

Uh, did you get that from the answer I gave yesterday? Anywho, don't know alls I know it's another word for do-do.

Morning sweetie--I have no idea of the origin, but it's my favorite thing to call people when I'm making a effort to not swear........

lmao...

A Turk who was a Nerd.

I think it came about when Turkey was named Turdey and they needed a term for what camels produce.

"Turd" comes from the Gaelic "Hurlaturda", which literally means, "I throw feces at you."

Like the old Roman "Fuccadillo" it has been boiled down to its root meaning.

TD

Turd Ferguson... It's a funny name, heh.

A very interesting question indeed.

The Oxford English Dictionary, one of the most poetic books I know says:
[OE. tord, = MDu., MFl. torde, tort, (whence also early mod.Du. tort-wevel (Kilian), OE. tord-wifel, ON. tord-yfill, OSw. tord-?fvil, Sw. tordyfvel, Norw. tordivel, -yvel, dung-beetle, sharn-bug), prob.:{em}IndoEur. *drtó-, pa. pple. of *der- to tear, split. See Falk and Torp Etymol. Wbch. s.v. Torbist. Cf. also tirdle, trottle, TRATTLE, TREDDLE.]

And a quotation from 1553:
Yet will a toorde be but a stinkinge toorde, both in smele and syght, pepper him and bawme him..as wele as they can

Old English, tord> Indo-Eropean]
