Sorry your home went up. Sure hope insurance covered it reasonably well.

The publicity went to southern California because that's where the big money homes were, and the celebrities. You, dear friend, are not a celebrity except to us on R&S. Also, you mentioned that the fire fighters were heroic. Yes, and in doing their job well, they made it quite a lot less of a loss, a tragedy. The southern California fires consumed a great many structures, some famous.

But I've got a computer room which could be converted to a bedroom if you wanted to come to St. Louis.

it's Idaho...that's California...do the math...I'm not saying it's right...it's just not unexpected.

We all love California

Fire Fighters are true heroes in society - they have all my respect no matter what state they put fires out in. :)

I think that it is because anything that happens in California gets more attention.

There's more electoral votes in California, and though Idaho's 80%Republican,there's still a lot more of them in SoCal.

Yes, I live in San Diego..it still looks awful here. Lots of houses completely gone and charred land and buildings. In Rancho Bernardo you can still barely breathe from the smoke! I had to take off all last week from work because our building was not letting people there (too close to one of the fires!) Three of my friends lost their homes.
I have great respect for firefighters.

Sorry to hear about your place!

Same sort of thing happened in the state I'm from. We had tornadoes that totally destroyed several small towns and cities, left them in ruins... Those people should have had support from the government, but instead backs were turned to them. It's absolutely ridiculous.

It's the same here in Montana. California simply gets more attention!
May the force be with you!

That's because the flames destroyed the homes of Jeniffer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Steven Spilberg, and all those millionaire celebrities. Boo-hoo. I hope their insurance money can help them rebuild their 10th or 20th vacation home that happen to have 30 extra rooms and bathrooms they don't even really need or use.

I feel for your loss.

Welcome to Media 101. We took that course down here a couple of years ago (feel glad that you weren't portrayed as low life murdering scum that deserved it) on the gulf coast. We did get a presidential fly over and he PERSONALLY collected 144 generators from his friends to "help". I have a friend that STILL wants to tell him where to put those generators. ;-))

just a guess, california is more important than idaho because more people live there which means more votes? sounds rediculous i know but some people actually think that way.

I blame it on the media. Who heard about the fires in Idaho? I didn't, but I don't count, because I hardly ever pay any attention to the news. But the news people choose what to report based on how many viewers it will attract, not based on informing the country on all of what is happening in the country.

I'm sorry you lost your house. I can't imagine how that must feel.

I'm terribly sorry about your home. As far as I'm concerned, the pres goes where they point him to go.

Those Firefighters are big time heroes. I'll tell You what Wise One. In America, if You are from a small population or out of the way State (or both) You are a second class citizen. I am from Kentucky myself and I have noticed this here over and over. Every fall our forests burn, and nary a peep is every heard in the media. We would have to get invaded by aliens or nuked here to make an impact on the media, otherwise We are pretty much ignored. I'm sure it's the same way in Idaho. If it's not in Cali, NY, Mass, Tex, La, Fla, or Georgia or D.C. it's a pretty good bet it'll be ignored.

I am so terribly sorry about You Home My friend, I feel for You and understand, My house burned 10 years ago. Good luck in everything, rebuilding can be a long and frustrating process.
