By the smell.
They can have green skin and lots of warts. They typically smell really bad and are usually much larger than a human in stature. They also have terrible tempers.

Don't they have bright colored hair that stands straight up?
I'm guessing if there hair seems to be wild then they might be one , and if they sometimes make up they're own words.

By the seriousness of their responses. Also check their previoius responses to questions and hopefully you'll know.
It should be easy, a troll is someone who makes obscene statements, has an obscene avatar, or tries to instigate people into arguments. A troll is also someone who is rude and insulting to people for no good reason.
It's really hard now that people have gotten wise to the whole hiding your q and a thing. That's how I used to tell. If someone asks for advice on a lot of offbeat unrelated stuff.

I guess it would be in the way they answer. And most trolls probably don't have an avatar pic...just a gray head. And of course, you can't reply to them because they're a bunch of cowards.
The ones that always thumb-down you, no matter what.
Stalkers and Cloners are trolls as well that should be dealt with very swiftly.
Well trolls are wider than humans and covered with dermal armor They are slower than humans. Does that sound about right?
If you ask very many questions, the trolls seem to always show up. And, if you check the trolls background of their own questions and answers, they has alot of rude negative ways.They are probably following you from question to question leaving the thumbs down. If you spot one, mention them by name, so we can all be forewarned.

They answer your most irreverent and light-hearted questions in a very serious, and "genuinely" namby pamby way...
And they like to "point fingers" at your question's "questionable location" in the categories...they like to give thumbs down to everyone...they only appear briefly...and then hopefully crawl away as they become "disenchanted" with everyone, because they have no sense of humor, they are "holier than thou," and they think they are the "Oh Holy Moly-est" of all people on this website...
The are vindictive, mentally ill, filled with hate, and can't stand seeing people have a good time on here...
If I could...I would take a juiced up Super Soaker watergun and hose them all down with ice cold water, and then send them packin' home to Momma where they belong...and probably still live after the age of 30...

Trolls tend to be the stick in the muds that cant have a laugh and a joke and they're quit offensive at times aswel!!
