Well I would SUGGEST not to do it until after marriage. But I do not/did not practice what I preach, because I didn't wait. It would be advised not to before marriage though - I regret doing it before marriage.
Why not before....would you buy a car knowing that you have to pay for it for years to come without test driving it first?

I'd say after but having been married there is often a lack of sex when you are married.
