A vast oil reserve was recently found in our (Canada's...i'm Canadian) Arctic passage that runs through Canadian waters. USA (and many others) are already using that passage a freeway. I smell a problem.
No. They won't be able to invade Canada. If Canada finds vast oil reserves, it will become so rich, on account of its low population that all the rich people in the US will move to Canada. And they will employ all the poor and unemployed people in the US. So, most likely, eventually, the US economy would be destroyed and it would become one of the poorest countries in the world.
