I have 6 teenagers so I understand your dilemma. In our home, we have an understanding that Christmas is about God, not us. We exchange simple gifts as a token of love and appreciation. As parents, we buy one meaningful gift for each child. For example, last year, we bought each a 2gb Ipod and that was it. I take the time to stuff stockings with small odds and ends such as antibacterial hand washes from Bath and Body Works, the large candy canes, cool toothpaste, pens and such. We do NOT go overboard because, again, it isn't about us. We have kept the children grounded on the true meaning of Christmas by not showering them with presents. We expect them to do good deeds for friends and family to show them how much they appreciate all that is done for them through the year. They make cookies, candies and do a little sewing or wood cutting for neighbors.

It is about God. And you know what, the children do really appreciate Christmas and God because of that. They do not feel slighted in the least and share that belief with their friends.

Hope that helps.

As little as I can

Not alot....I'm poor. ha ha

not much we are moving so we cant spend much

More than I really want to

about 2 and a half grand

If I had the chance, it would be zilch!
Chance would be a fine thing..

If I get away with a $1500 christmas this year I will be lucky, 5 kids to buy for, dinner is at my house this year, and we have to buy ALL new decorations, trimmings and the whole bit!! THANK GOD none of the kids are old enough to drive and want a car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually spend between $500 and $800. I don't do the food part, my mom does, so I just buy gifts. My spending will go up a little this year, however, because I have added about 8 people onto my list....

Not as much this year as usual, I'm broke. Both my sons have bdays before xmas so I know how you feel.

not much too...........

God I'd like to think I'm going to be good this year but... I like to recieve great gifts, therefore I like to give great gifts... I'm thinking the damage will be about 2k... Can you believe the holidays are RIGHT around the corner???!!!!!

My family will spend between $400-500.

I'll be spending £000000000,
I'm a student, and I'll be working Christmas day, so people who know me know that I've cancelled Birthdays and Christmas's until I graduate and get a decent job!

That's a lot to think about in October:
Pitching in money for the tree, decorations, Christmas dinner, wrapping paper and tape, and buying gifts: I'd say I'd be spending well over $500.00 between the beginning of November and Christmas eve.

LOL, all of my money is going towards a new house. thats the best Christmas gift my little son can get. Seriously though, I'll be doing alot of traveling so I wont be spending much on gifts. His grandparents, aunties and uncles and cousins got him though!

Well momma that is up to you.
Your kids DO NOT need to get everything they ask for nor is it necessary to buy for everyone in the family + friends.

In my younger days as a single mom I had a few kids.. Each child was asked to write up their Xmas list .
Then each child was asked to pick their top 4 items which they absolutely wanted . Those items are the ones I would make an effort to get.

I also shopped early and most of the time had xmas shopping done by October.

Family and friends received gifts of homemade items or in later years gift certificates $ 25.00 for single $50 for a couple.

Food wise -- 250 -300

Not too much, I've got to the point where I dislike Christmas because what it has become around my house. My husband's family makes such a big deal about presents, everything that is opened at their house, they have to tell how much it costs. It makes me sick at my stomach. We get into a big argument every year at this time. I don't let him buy expensive stuff for them just to piss them off. I know it is mean, but that is not what Christmas is supposed to be about and I refuse to give in to their games.

Before we were financially stable, we would go broke around this time of year trying to keep up with them, but not anymore.

I set a budget of $20 bucks a person for each of his family members and we do not go over it no matter what. We buy each other something and that's it. We have no kids so we don't have to worry about that.

Christmas should be about giving a gift, not how much the gift cost. Dangit!! Ok, I'm done.

Good Morning!!

not much since my i'm only buying presents 4 my babe & bestfrend

family's far away

About £800-£900

Mainly on beer lol

As little as I can get away with! My children are grown up now and have kids of their own. When they were little they usually wanted more than we could afford to give the but were quite happy to receive what we could give them, we explained that we couldn't afford what they wanted and they accepted that. We never got ourselves into debt just to give them what they wanted or what their friends have. It helped us and taught them the valuable lesson that you can't always have what you want.

approx 500 pound per child, i have 4 and approx 300 on food and 150 on drink as i always end up with a house full at christmas

we think about 2,000 pounds

Not gonna have it to spend. Getting a divorce (my Christmas present to myself!) So it's $100 on my grandaughter, around $50 on my teenage son (he is old enough to understand) The rest of my children are grown. About $50 on fudge supplies (we give it to all our friends), use last years decor. I am working Christmas day and son is going to his Dad's, so no dinner. Happy flipping New Year! ;-))

mmmm on xmas?

probably nil.. my parents dun celebrate xmas.. but my birthday falls on december too.. around xmas date.. hehe
