Dont take CANDY from strangers? why go "Trick or Treating"?!
Question: Most people let their kids go trick or treating at houses where the parents know the people. They also take their kids to businesses and organizations that have fun and safe halloween activities. Also, most people accompany their kids trick or treating or allow their kids to go in groups where adults are present.
The "candy from strangers" bit is not an all inclusive law of nature. I can think of plenty of times when parents allow their kids to get candy (or some type of food) from strangers. At a fast food place. At a fair or carnival. At the store. At the local bank (they give out lollipops). There are plenty of times when parents allow their kids to accept candy from strangers. Trick or treating is no different. The candy from strangers advice should also come with an explanation of why you would not accept candy from a stranger or else the kid is not going to understand.
An interesting note, it is very rare for kids to get poisoned from halloween candy. There are almost no instances of people randomly giving out poisoned candy. The times that a kid did get poisoned usually came from family members. That does not mean that it is 100% safe to go trick or treating. There is always the possibility of a nut case out there handing out rat poison treats. However, kids are much more likely to be hurt by a car than get poisoned during halloween.

It' simple. Don't go to strangers houses! I take my daughter to relatives and friends places....not door to door.
Because it's a part of our American tradition. Why break tradition? And if you put safety first then it should be fine.
That is weird! All this time I have been teaching my daughter that but we let her trick or treat. I guess because the world is confusing???
So children can get high of of the hidden drugs. And thats the spirit of Halloween. :)

'Trick or Treating' is an age old custom that many kids have enjoyed for many years.
Why, for the love of God should they have to stop just because there are so many sick and vile creeps out there.

Well, for you, there may be some single mom's out there that would like to give you a treat.
As parents we like to contradict ourselves.
This is one of the great hypocrisies of the American culture. I guess kids would rather have piles of candy and risk being poisoned than stay home.
Because of some people getting out of control, and getting their kicks out of putting razor blades in apples. The children of today are missing out on the fun and scariness of Halloween. I am 59 years old and when I was a kid, people were doing the same thing in the 60's. That is the phrase I heard when I was a teenager Trick or Treating. Now parents take their children to malls which is fun but is deleting the sport of Halloween. I think if the parents would go with their kids in safe neighborhoods and check out the candy, it would be a safe and scary HALLOWEEN. To me this is a form of terrorism on a local level, and the kids are missing out on all the fun.
I'm not worried---I'm the weird one in my neighborhood.
