Men: if your family needed to catch up on bills, would you spend any extra cash !
Question: oh, like a $150 tattoo, and a new PDA? I know a guy who has been out of work the last year and a half. He got a brand new job 3 weeks ago, and his family needs to get caught up on bills. He cashes the checks and got a tattoo, is getting a new PDA and wants to buy a lap top and a flat screen tv by Christmas. He cannot afford these items but he thinks he deserves them.
He hasn't had a credit card in over 7 years since he filed bankruptcy. He has a tendency of over drawing the bank account on stupid things due to his spending. His household bills are behind due to him wanting to spend. He refuses to give up internet or cable. You'd think he'd keep things going because he's a father.... But no... he games all the time and ignores the kids.
Anyway, men, please tell me you are not like this man at all.

Why do you need to ask? This guy is a selfish loser jerk. I pity anyone that has to rely on this person,( I can't call him a man) to do the right things to care for his family, or handle his financial responsibilities. Men don't act like that. Selfish little boys do.

That's abusive of the priviliged lifestyle he is allowed to have. Some people need a timeout in a third world country to better understand the difference between WANT and NEED.
No way. I never spend money on things I don't need or really really really really want. Besides, when I do get a job, a real job, I will still be like that. I will save the money for more important things, and for when I have kids of my own. It's ridiculous how this man spends all his money. It's like giving money to homeless people. You may feel bad for them, but what do they do with the money they get? Drugs, Alcohol... because they don't know how to use it wisely. Some people need a lot of help these days controlling their desires and being responsible.
I don't know him but it sounds like he needs to grow up and take on some responsibility.
Sweetie, it's not just men. I know a girl who didn't pay her rent for several months and spend thousands of dollars on a wedding b/c she thought she'd get all that money back - and more - after her wedding. A month after the wedding, she and her new husband are getting evicted. It's not just men, it's women too. People who do that are just irresponsible, selfish, stupid people who blame others for all their problems and take no responsibility for their own demise.

Oh, no I'm definitely not like that! I'm a teacher and before the school year ended, wifey and I figured out we're gonna be short on the bills come summertime? What did I do? I took a job at Target so we could get caught up. Worked with some cool people there, too.
One more thing: the thing that we as blacks don't really grasp is the difference between WANTS and NEEDS. Wifey tells me of the cable customers who can't afford their bill, yet let everything else go by the wayside. She wants to tell them, "You can LIVE without cable!!", but she can't.
This man sounds like a monster. It doesn't sound like he deserves to have a nice family. He needs to be kicked to the curb and see how it is to pay child support and alimony.
