Question: why does local news need to have separate times 5, 5:30 and 6 oclock news, with mostly the same news items? I just don't get it!

they do it at 5,5:30 and 6 and as more news comes in the local news gives you any and all updates. plus, they pay for that time slot on t.v. then at 10pm they do it again which they could update you then. i guess were not suppose to get it? thank you, thatkat
in case you miss the 5 pm news you can get them after 5:30 and 6:00

I find it annoying too. Remember when news was on only at 6:00?
because some people are not able to watch the news until 530 or 6. they try and accommodate the people who aren't home until those times.
Because it's cheaper than paying to syndicate Judge Judy or reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond.
Most of the news is bs any how. Sorry, can't help much! I listen to NPR.
They want business and every minute something new is happening so maybe they want to cover most important news.
