we have the ban in Ireland a bit longer, you'll see a big difference in the numbers of smokers going to the pub during the winter when its too cold to go outside for a smoke! The take aways do a roaring business here since the ban started. People (including myself) would rather sit in the comfort of their own home and have a few drinks than stand shivering and trying to enjoy the odd puff!

I personally, am not a smoker, and I do feel like the non smokey atmosphere is a godsend. But.... and there is a but... even though I hate being a passive smoker, alot of the most interesting people I know happen to be smokers. So we non-smokers normally end up in the freezing cold, outside the pubs with the smokers.

Bet it's costing the pubs a fortune though. I also feel sorry for all those little old men, who have nothing else to do, but to go to the pub with their mates, have a ciggarette and put the world to rights. Bless 'em.

yep...i'd rather invite a few friends round have a few cans, turn the music right up and annoy the neighbours while putting my feet up by the fire and lighting up a cig!
