Poll: Anybody here feel as if Yahoo Answers is affecting their productivity?!

Question:

Poll: Anybody here feel as if Yahoo Answers is affecting their productivity?

I can honestly say yes. At first I thought, this is just a hobby. I have found something new to do so it's okay if I spend a lot of time on here. But after these past couple of weeks I can say I feel addicted. Literally addicted. I have been trying to work on my side business and everytime I get on my computer to do it I get side-tracked with asking and answering questions on here.

When I go to work, the first thing I do is log in to my e-mail and the database and then I check Yahoo Answers. I say logged in all day. I spend time answering and asking questions. Then on the weekends if I have nothing to do and nowhere to go, I'm here doing it again. I have considered deleting the entire account. I really have. It's so addictive.

I try to switch and work on my business stuff but immediately end back up on this site.

Answers: Yes I know this feeling! I should be going down to feed the chickens right now but I'm stuck on here. The problem is that every time i think about signing off another question pops up which I want to answer, and if i don't it bugs me all day! Still, there are many things that are worse addictions so don't worry too much - I am now going to feed the poor birds before they die of starvation! Source(s):
rgn I tend to hang out here when I know there are other things I should be doing. no I have had two kids since coming here. ...Yes you are probably right.....Y!A is totally addictive...not just that but it takes so much time from doing other things...

Good luck and take care! Yeah sometimes. Only when my points level starts to drop and I get obsessed with getting it back up.

But then I realise when I have a problem and force myself to stop.

The best way to do that is to say 'what is this really adding to my life?' and if you can't answer that, then get offline!!!

:) good luck!!! Yahoo is affecting the peoples productivity who answer ,by suspending top contributors and sending countless violation notices for nonsense ,so that everybody is afraid to say almost anything freely any more .

As well as , killing peoples enthusiasm ,by taking all their points away
few serious people still take this forum seriously. I personally think it is indeeed addicting, and if your not careful. it can consume your entire day, especially Yahoo Q&A site.

But there is a solution, that I discovered to breaking this mean cycle of habit!

What I do to keep from geeting hooked on this computer is, whenever my total points hit about 3000, I automatically delete my entire account and then setup a new one and start answering more questions. I have done this twice, so far, and now that I am working on the third account, I find that my habits have changed, and there no longer is that strange pull to get on the computer to answer peoples questions. I find that answering a few Q per night is sufficient and satisfying. Once I get off the Yahoo site, I can then enter other sites that attract my attention, like operating my business. or talking with business associates in other countries.

The drive to make point goals every night is no longer such a pull on me, and this is how I broke myself of this habit.

Besides that, I am on here to see if I can help someone else overcome a problem they are having, and they can benefit from the many mistakes that I have made in my life, by not doing them, and using the solutions that I came to that solved whatever my particular problem was.

I know that when I hit a total of 3,000 points, its the end of the ballgame, and then I will open up a new account and start over, answering more questions for people.

Now, if getting lots of points meant that you could purchase something tangible with it, like a microwave, stereo system,or even parts for your vehicle, then I could see how it could benefit someone to accumulate as many points as they could per setting, but it doesn't, the points only display to other members how much you have contributed to this site, nothing more. Making lots of money in my business is far more important, as with it I can pay the monthly bills, and my overall lifestyle has created some hefty bills every month.
