Hypothetical Question: The Cashier Clerk Mistakenly Gives You Incorrect Amount Of Change..?

After Handing the Cashier Clerk A $20 Dollar Bill. He Mistakenly Gives You A $100 In Change And You Don't Notice Until You Get To The Parking Lot. Do You Go Back Into The Store To Get The Correct Amount Of Change Or Kept The $100 Dollar Bill.

Also, Have you had an experience like this?

Answers: Yes, go back. The clerk will end up punished when they count down his/her drawer and you're really not going to be better off in the long run for that money. Money made too easy isn't worth the price of your honor. Personally, this has never happened. I'd give it back and also talk to the manager. I used to run the cash register. That kind of mistake can get you fired. Go back to the store and tell them.

I've gotten a $20 instead of a $10 once. keep it and I'm not that lucky I rip the hundred dollar bill in half, then strip down to my boxers, and run back in shouting, "I'm a lunatic!" it depends i mean i wouldnt give it back if i was in desperate need on some cash but if i had money i would give it back to them yes, and i never pay attention, so i'm usually half way home by the time i realize...so that would be a negative on the returning of the incorrect change. who cares? i'm going to hell anyway. I've had it happen although not with that much $. I'm keeping it as I'm a broke b!tch anyway. Yes, to going back inside. No, to having experienced this.

Why is the first letter in every word capitalized in your question? Have experienced similar and I go back. Back into the store and get the correct amount of change. It would kill me knowing that I know something and I didn't do anything about it.

This hasn't happened to me before though. go back and tell them
yes, not that much money but i was given extra. i noticed before i left the store and returned it I have had a similar experience, not $100 but close. I returned the money. I don't need the bad Karma, I have had to fire people for less and couldn't have that on my conscience. Forget going back, but if it was there and then. . .I'd still keep it!! I have had that happen it wasn't a $100 but I took the change back in the store couldn't take what wasn't mine. I've had a cashier give me the wrong change for stuff... If I'm still in the general vicinity when I notice it - I go back and correct that mistake.

If I've already driven off ...gotten home... etc., I won't go all the way back to the store to fix that. (Although I *might* if it was a significant amount like $100 and the store's close) I take it back its stealing and forces prices up I'd go back in and correct that--yes it happened about 2 wks ago. You march right back into the store.

That clerk will be in so much trouble if you don't and yes that has happened to me and I've been on both ends of the experience. Wait 'til you see the smile of relief on that clerk's face.... I would have went back! If in the parking lot.

Now if i had of been home already i may have kept it!

Depends on how far away the store is from my house!!

My hubby got free food from mcd's the other week.

We kept it because it was just to far to drive all the way back! I've never experienced this but I would give it back. I used to cashier and it sucks when your till is off.....!!! Plus if I dropped money or something like that I'd want someone to tell me...Karma my friend. I highly doubt this is even possible being that usually big bills $50 and above are often put under the regular cash tray so there's not a lot of cash visible in the drawer.

If it was done, I would probably give it back because it would end up coming out of the clerks paycheck later. But If I was really strapped for cash I might be tempted to take it, but even then its a maybe, my conscious would eat at me in addition to my karma being tainted. Yes I do. That has happened to me before, not with that large of an amount. I would rather be honest than deceitful.
I actually gave someone back too much change and my drawer was off about 20 something bucks.
I got written up. It is an honest mistake on the cashiers part, however if you notice it and don't go back in, that's mean.

My boss was MEAN!!! almost Nazi like. She made me pay for my mistake.. I then made her exlax brownies.. umm umm good. lmao what kind of IDIOT.

I'd walk back in, tell the clerk what s/he did. I'd LAUGH.

walk out.

walk back in. LAUGH. POKE THE CLERK. walk out. drive home.

and take the misses to a nice dinner. Other day I bought bread and the guy gave me an extra dollar. I didn't realise it until I got home. Next Monday I'm going back to the bakery to give it back. Go back, by all means, otherwise the cashier has to make it up out of their pocket. What happened to me years ago was, when I made a deposit to my christmas club, the machine deposited $999,999. It was a mistake, but you can`t keep it. If you were the cashier who made the mistake would you want someone to return it or keep it. Remember the cashier must make it up out of their pay. I would give it back to the cashier. I wouldn't want someone getting fired for the mistake, or worse going to jail because the owners thought they stole it.
I have gotten change for a $20 when I only gave them a $10. and returned it. The poor girl was happy she said they docked her pay last time she was short in the register. Was glad I could do something nice. But why does it hurt so bad sometimes being nice lol? Yes of course I go back...honesty is a great virtue and it is not good to drag that kind of Karma around with you if you didn't go back. That poor clerk making 20 cents an hour would get in the deepest sh!t for messing up like that and all you would get out of it is perhaps a couple of DVDs or 2 rounds at the bar...not worth it. Be honest and make the kids day! Yes I go back in and give them the money. No matter the amount. I have before. They could get fired for it and I have been a cashier before. Never had the heart to keep the money
