Question:

Are the dangers of Alcohol and Drug abuse to our children more prevalent than ever?

It seems to me like this problem is getting worse every year what's your opinion on the matter?

Thank you

Answers: I don't know what prevalent means but...
Yes it is getting worse every year!
I see little 11 year old kids on street corners at about 9 at night, smoking joints with a bottle of cider!!
11 years old!?It's crazy!!What the hell are their parents doing while they're out at that time of night!!I mean, I'm 19, I drink, I smoke, and I smoke joints, yeah I have done coke, pills, speed, etc.....But I grew out of it!!
But there are kids round my area that do pills at 13 years old!!I don't see how their parents don't notice!I think that parents need to get a bit more clued up on the side effects of drugs.....coz 99% of them you can tell just by looking at their face, they need to keep their kids in after a certain time!!

Personally I think that 9pm is too late for a 11 year old child to be out!But I also think that parents do their best and i also think that if a child wants to do something-then they will do it!!

Sorry blabbed on a bit!! lol....But I've told all the kids I know about what I've done and what it did to me, and that it's not good to do it.....but they don't listen and they won't listen! They'll have to learn for themselves! yes I don't think so. I think it was worse in the late 90's. No, just more televised than ever. theres no more drugs ever than there were...and there is more info today than there has ever been...im sure that lazy chavvy parenting has something to do with it (im not saying all parents are bad...just that most of the people i see with kids on a daily basis dont seem to have their kids best interests in mind)....as for alcohol....i cant take a government seriously that punishes the cannabis smokers as criminals...yet leaves alcohol legal (which is way more destructive/addictive/harmful) just because 'it always has been'...such hypocrisy Agree with you there..way out of control....all that talk at school seems to go in 1 ear & out the other. erm im afraid its not =S the statistics have went down in recent years =S WOPPPER yes it seems that way. There's more cocaine than there was 40 years ago, that's about it. Awareness and knowledge about drugs among young people has diminished in those 40 years, in my opinion. We knew what was dangerous, people don't now. Misinformation, probably. Yes,the media are putting forward these types of people, drug takers, kate & pete, noel & liam, britney, etc, even some politicians as national heroes.Young people who are easily influenced copy
them, believing its part of being glamorous. The results are dangerous & destructive & lead to further destruction of society, through crime & the national health bills increasing.
