Wedding etiquette.....?!

Question:

Wedding etiquette.....?

If invitations are addressed Mr. & Mrs. Brown and they RSVP for themselves and their children, how do you let them know the kids are not invited??

Answers:

I have always thought to myself, why is it the bride and groom have to tiptoe around and show proper etiquette when clearly the people who RSVP'd and took the liberty of inviting their own guests were the ones being rude? I would never dream of sending back an invitation that was clearly marked "Mr. and Mrs" with children, my cat, my friends or anyone else. They were obviously not invited or their names would have been on the envelope!

At any rate, it puts you in an uncomfortable situation because you now have to call and "politely" say it will be an adults-only wedding and reception. If they argue (I had this same problem) simply ask them if they plan to pay for the reception because obviously they're not thinking about the expense this is costing the bride and groom. I still hear all sorts of flack for not inviting children to our wedding (it was 3 years ago, get over it already).

GOOD LUCK (and congratulations)
