Onsen meant hot spring pool in Japan, men and women has separate?

pool BUT you are not allowed to wear anything in the pool. You are given a small towel to cover your face only. Till now, I have not tried due to nakedness, would you and why?

Anyway to convince me?

You are right on not wearing anything during bath but not even a swimsuit?

I admit the first time I tried it, I was a little shy and embarassed, but not anymore! I love Japanese hot springs and it is completely natural for Japanese people to enjoy onsen without clothing so why can`t it be for me as well? I actually don`t mind it at all and it is very relaxing! There are a few places out in the boonies where the pools are not separated, but I have never been to such a place. Almost everywhere, the men`s and women`s areas are strictly divided and very well hidden from public and each other`s view. The towels are also to cover your privates while you walk from tub to tub.

Recently they have started building hot springs resorts for families where there is one section (men and women separated of course) where you can take a bath in the buff and then a family area with the same kinds of pools (and usually a swimming pool as well) were bathing suits are required. They started doing this so families don`t have to separate to enjoy the hot springs. Hawaiians spa resort in Iwaki, Fukushima,, Ryugugyo in Kisarazu Chiba, and also one in Shin-Urayasu (near Tokyo) have this set-up.

Honestly, Japanese hot springs are awsome! Many of them have spectacular views and are wonderful to relax and enjoy your time in Japan. No need to feel embarassed! You can also find resorts with private tubs in your own room or that you can rent by the hour for your own personal or family use.
