It is conveying that she is a Pearl, the actual scarlet letter ( Hester's forbidden daughter)!. How even though she feels this way, she is not allowed to abide and act on her feelings!. Of course their is Romeo and Juliet, the ultimate cliche, but it feels fitting in this story!. I just love this song!. It shows that she is strong and powerful , yet intelligent about her situation!.
