Question: Why do so many people dislike Kanye West's album 808's and Heartbreaks !?
There's all these "save the music" advertisements going around, people will come on here everyday and complain that modern music has taken a turn for the worse, hip/hop is dead, all hip hop is about girls and money etc!. etc!.
YET, when a rap star ( who is technically, a pop star by now ) tries to expand his horizons, people get in a fit;
"oh why is he singing"
"why is he making all these love songs"
"why are his videos so frikkin wierd"
"why doesn't he go back to rapping about the plight of black people, golddiggers and how George Bush hates us !?!"
I mean!.!. what is it that people want ! Are we so ignorant that we won't listen to a black guy's music unless he is rapping about THE SAME SH!T over and over again !
On one hand people say hip/hop glamorizes violence and prostitution, yet look how we complain when a rapper makes songs on other issues!.
On one hand people say Kanye West is conceited and full of it; yet when he starts singing introspectively!.!. then people complain that he has become weak!.
Why are we doing this again !? Why are we limiting ourselves like this !? Please, people, don't let this be another Lenny Kravitz, where a black guy loses all his black fans because he "has become white!."
Can't a black man sing about something other than his (^&**! without being ignored by the black community !!?

I haven't been a fan of Kanye, just a few hits here and there!. But, I actually LOVE-Love Lockdown!. It's different, and I am sick and tired of cookie cutter performers (Beyonce, Ludacris, Lil Wayne)
I think he has shown a different side of himself, and for that, he has been inducted into my personal list of those I consider an artist!. He has shown that he is brilliant, and that he can be original!. He id it before with Gold Digger, and Stronger, now again with the Heartless album!.
