When picking individual strings, are you supposed to rest your picking hand on t!

Question: When picking individual strings, are you supposed to rest your picking hand on the guitar!?
I can play without resting my right hand (picking hand) on the guitar, but when i'm playing fast on the higher strings, its more comfortable if i rest part of my right hand on the guitar!. Is that the wrong way to play!? Should i always play with my picking hand off the guitar!? DWww@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
It depends on what style you play
for anything fast you should rest your hand on the bridge or if your doing classical you need to learn how to do rest strokes
for me resting my hand slighting on the bridge provides the most controlWww@Enter-QA@Com

yeah!.!.!. a gentle rest of the whole judo chop part of your hand on the strings is a great idea!. The reason being is you can allow the part in question to just make contact on the strings as you pick and it makes a fat chunky sound!. You'll recognize it right away and the neat thing is you'll always have your picking hand in position in case you want a very clean approach as in completely off the strings should you want to!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on what you are playing!. In classical guitar you don't anchor your hand on the top of the guitar, but if you are playing folk or blues fingerpicking, there are no rules - you can do whatever feels best for you!.
If you are playing an electric guitar I don't see that anchoring your hand could do any harm!.
It comes down to personal preference essentially!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Whatever is the most comfortable for you is right!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
