Why are there so many sub categories of metal? ?!

Question: Why are there so many sub categories of metal!? !?
Since I have been expanding my music library, I keep running across terms I don't understand!. I have been looking online and have been finding some new music on my own, but I don't always understand these sub-categories!. Can someone explain what is metalcore!? or melodeath!? I can't do music with a lot of screaming, I like clean vocals with some growling, but if I can't understand the song, I won't listen!.

All suggestions will be appreciated!.

Answers:
Just like Rap & Hip Hop!.!.!. It's slightly different!.!.!.!. but Metal takes it to a whole different level!

Trash Metal
Speed Metal
Power Metal
Death Metal
Heavy Metal
DeathCore
MetalCore
Metal
Industrial Metal
Progressive Metal
Christian Metal
Black Metal

And the list goes on!.!.!.!.

You can tell the difference between them, such as Metalcore and original metal!. There is much more screaming in Metalcore than Metal!. I really do not know why there are a plethora of sub-genres!.!.!. I guess it's because people wanted a different style!.!.!.

I listen to Metal, MetalCore, Heavy Metal, and Christian Metal!. I couldn't listen to any other type of metal!.!.!. That's just me though!.!.!.

Metalcore is an umbrella term used to describe fusion genres that incorporate elements of the hardcore punk and heavy metal genres!. The term is a portmanteau of heavy metal and hardcore punk!.

Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal which combines the melody of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with the intensity of death metal!. The genre is also known as Gothenburg metal,a reference to the city in Sweden where it originated!. Originally the genre combined the harmony style and groove melodies of heavy metal with the harsh thrashing sound and vocals of death metal!. Later the genre evolved due to many different influences, a notable evolution in the genre being the addition of keyboards!. Melodic death metal contains more melodic guitar riffs, melodic solos, and acoustic guitar work than death metal!. It also contains more comprehensible lyrics with traditional death growl and screaming vocals!.

I really love Killswitch Engage and As I lay Dying, so you can really see my preference of music!.

BA: Yes I have unfortunately!.!.!. Why do you ask!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well if you listen to the different genre's carefully you'll notice a difference!. Metal can be customized to fit tons of different styles, there's probably a metal sub-genre for everyone!. From symphonic metal to blackened death metal!.

Metalcore= Hardcore Punk + heavy metal!.
MeloDeath= Melodic Death metal(death metal with less of a 'brutal' approach with added melodies/clean vocals!. Some bands will experiment with this, ex!. more screaming then clean or vice versa!.

Hey Nancy :)

Yeah, there are tooo many sub-genres of metal, in my opinion cause there are always people that then label certain bands incorrectly!.!.!.and it turns into a mess!.!.!.!.!.

Melodic Death Metal is my favorite sub-genre of metal because many of the bands incorporate screaming/growling with clean singing, which is exactly what I like!.!.!.!.deep growls with beautiful singing is the perfect combination for me!.!.!.!.!.therefore melodeath is a sub-genre to check into if you like that kind of stuff!.!.!.!.

Hey Hun!

Yeah there are 50 or 60 or a little more Metal Sub-Genres, because since the 80s Metal Musicians have been mixing Metal Cocktails like Crazy Fusing This with that and the other and this with that and the other on and on and on, So since the 80s metal has evolved in so many styles that all these sub-genres have had to been created

You can look into heavy metal, power metal, progressive metal, etc!. They use clean vocals!. Best way distinguish between them is by listening to famous bands since each subgenre has its unique style!. Some bands such as Kamelot and Evergrey are considered as Power/Progressive metal bands!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Metal started in the 60s and since then it's become more and more obscure every decade!. Just wait until the late 2010s when we have weird genres that don't make any sense!.!.!.

Grindpop
Post-Rap Sludgecore
Doomcore
Jazz-infused Technical Deathpunk
