I am thinking about taking up classical guitar, would it be useful?!

Question: I am thinking about taking up classical guitar, would it be useful!?
I am in a couple metal bands!. My drummer took up classical drumming (which i did not even know was a such thing) and he said it really helps out with control and technique, etc!. Is it the same way for guitar!? if i took up classical guitar would it help me that much for my style!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
YES

it is very useful, helps your technicality and you can lern new stuff, plus it can change the way you write music and play everything!. definitely a good thing to do!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I studied classical guitar for about 3 years and it helped my playing tremedously!. Your friend is absolutely right about how it increases you control and technique!. It really helps your playing to sound more clean!. I feel you also gain more knowledge on muscianship!. Like the use of dynamics, tempo changes, song structure, reading notation, and theory!. I also recommend that you study jazz!. It can help with your speed, rythmn playing, chord knowledge, and your improvisation skills!. Jazz really forces you to listen to what your bandmates are playing!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

absolutely
it might not help too much with your right hand technique
but i'm sure it will benefit your left hand

and there are plenty metal bands who play classical/acoustic interludes
i could list tons, but the one immediately comes to mind is Galactic Abduction by Burning the Masses
Oh, also check out Pi (The Mercury God of Infinity)!.
Both start out with classical guitar and transition to hardcore metal brutality =]

Exploring different styles, regardless of the instrument, is bound to make you not only a more proficient player on that instrument, but will also expand your musical abilities (and awareness) in general!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

By learning Classical Guitar, you are not only taught different types of chords, but you also learn all the individual notes!. You also learn different types to make notes "warble" (i!.e!.- using the whammy bar) or you learn how to finger-pluck which can make soothing melodies or fast melodies!. I was taught in Classical Guitar and it gives you the best knowledge of guitar playing in general!. Most people are self-taught, so they don't know all the different ways to play like Classical Guitarists do!. I recommend you do take some classes!. If it doesn't improve your playing for your band, it will definitely let you have a lot of fun playing guitar when you're bored or when you decide to go solo!. Who knows, it may give you some ideas of making your music sound really cool and original (like Yellowcard using an electric violin!)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am a Metal Guitarist that writes and plays Technical Prog Thrash and a tad of Technical Death Metal I fuse a little of it with my Thrash Composition, and I took some Flamenco and Classical Guitar lessons years ago and it was one of the best things I ever did it not only expanded on my finger picking techniques but My Composition as well I also fuse Flamenco guitar parts in my songs as well because I write Progressive I think its a great idea that you take some lessons or learn yourselfWww@Enter-QA@Com

I play guitar, and I think that classical acoustic is a lot harder than a lot of stuff commonly played in metal!. I started with acoustic for this reason, so I'd kind of have a head start!. I really encourage you to try classical!. You'd have more knowledge and experience that way!. You might be able to incorporate more into you're metal music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm sure it would and you could compose unique sounds!. Good Luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com
