I posted a Q!. earlier about Rock vs!. Rap and In the details I put that I like lyrical rappers like Big L, Eminem, Nas, Lupe, Luda!.!.!.pretty much anybody actually sayin somethin with skill!.
Then I said most rap today in general (Radio and BET) is about 4 things: Money, Easy girls, Thuggin, and throwin a party!. Some People got mad!.!.!. Are we listenin to the same radio and watchin the same videos!?

i somewhat agree with what your saying and you do have a good point to the a certain extent aswell as some of the other people who answered!. i personally think that there is no such thing as rap/hip hop anymore!. to me its dead, though there is a few rappers who are still holding it down, ppl like lupe, common, talib n them!. i hate how people call it backpack rap!. Oh and we are def!. hearing the same music people call rap/hip hop!. and its all horrible!. anyone can be a rapper today!. all you have to do as rap about those 4 elements mentioned or make a instructional dance song throw on a southern beat and call it a day!. i just miss what this genre used to be!. if any of the greats were still alive there would be no room for half these rappers!. and i cant wait till this southern movement diminishes because there about 3 half *** rappers in the south!. weezy, t!.i!. and luda!. everyone else is just a wanabe repitive copy of someone else or they soulja boyz!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
i agree!. unfortunately, everything MAINSTREAM is about stupid subjects!. there are plenty of more rap artists out there who rap about different things, but they don't get to be played on the radio or music television as much!. i guess people nowadays just like simpler, more easy to understand meanings like money, sex, and shaking specific body parts!. sad, but mainstream chooses what makes the most money!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

While it IS true that a lot of rap does talk about those topics, I don't understand what everyone's problem is with that!. Don't you party!? Don't you like money!? Don't you like goin to the club!? Don't you like dancing!? Don't you like women (if you're a guy)!? Don't you like smokin weed!? I mean, what's the problem!? We all like that shyt, we all DO that shyt so I don't see what's wrong with having music to go along with it!. I turn on BET and laugh sometimes at the stupidity, but also you gotta remember that that's what sells and when you actually BUY the CD (or download it), most of those songs on there are actually about better topics and sound a lot better!. Ludacris really isn't a lyricist!.!.!. him and Em are both goofoffs if you ask me!. But you're entitled to like what you like and I wouldn't really question that, so why are you questioning what other people like!? If you don't like it don't listen to it!. That's what I do! =)
PS - Everyone isn't thinkin about the political situation all the time like that!. Some people have ice and rims!. People in the hood definitely do!. I know I have rims on my car and I'm poor or whatever livin in the hood!. There's nothing wrong with talkin about that kinda thing and the real point is that when you actually listen to the whole CD most of the songs aren't about that kinda stuff!.

It's a GREAT CULTURE to look upon and see what's on peoples minds!. As of now, I am an avid writer of rap lyrics - and I, for one!.!.!. do not write about all that nonsense!. I write/rap about what matters, what's become an issue, what's beneath my skin and most of all!.!.!.!. what's REAL!.

Rap (all music) is entertainment, ie!. a distraction from things like war, violence, death, the economy!. It's a momentary escape!.
You could say the same thing about any entertainment!. There's a war so why do people watch football games!? The economy sucks so why are people wasting their time going to the movies!?
